Thanksgiving Feast At School

My kids have attended Trinity Lutheran School in beautiful Paso Robles, CA. since they were in kindergarten. My daughter is now in 8th grade and my son is in 7th grade. I have loved this school and will miss it when they are both off to High School (not too long now)! The school has a wonderful tradition of eating a Thanksgiving feast together before they break for the Thanksgiving holiday. The parents arrange the whole thing and prepare all the food. Centerpieces made by the elementary classes are proudly displayed on the tables. The teachers sit at tables in the center of the parish hall and are served by parents. The kids sit in their family groups; one family group per table.
The family groups are a neat idea that the school does also. A family group is a group of about 8 students from K through 8th grade. The eighth grader (or sometimes 7th grader) is the group leader. The last Friday of each month during the school year is "family group" day and they stay together and do activities, games and crafts. This allows the younger students to develop bonds with older students and gives older students experience in leadership and mentoring. This year both my kids are leaders of their own family groups.
Another tradition of the school is that the 3rd and 4th graders begin the festivities with square dancing for the school. It is great fun and the parents love it! I remember when my kids did the square dancing, what good memories!
School is out for an entire week! Yay!
Have a great Turkey Day!
Blessings!

First tournament this season

Well, the first tournament of this season for the Knockouts soccer team was a quick one! It turned out to be a single elimination tournament and the team the Knockouts played first was the only team that had beaten them during the regular season...the dreaded Los Osos team... Rats!!! The Knockouts played a super game but lost 0-2 :( It was a very short day.

The positive note is that this tournament has no bearing on who goes on to play for Paso Robles, that will be decided next weekend.Sooooo...

GO KNOCKOUTS!!!

Last game of regular season

Today was the Knockouts last game of their regular season. They played a Templeton team and won 4-2. Their record for the season is 6 wins, 2 ties, 1 loss. The only loss of the season was at Los Osos. Now on to the tournaments! Tournaments are exciting but also tiring with sometimes 3 games in a day. Time for them to show what they have learned all season. The Knockouts are going into the tournaments with one of the best records in the league but we will see how the other teams have improved since they have played them!
Go Knockouts!

Letters to Dad

Dear Dad,
I hope you are fine. I really miss our "quiet time" together :). I'm looking forward to catching up when you get home. Hee Hee! Better watch out..I mean...see you soon!
Your Loving Son,
Wyatt

Dear Dad,
How are you? I suppose I am OK. I am glad to be home but I'm kind of sore and have to wear this ridiculous t-shirt. At least Mom gave me the Ray Azbill Phesant Hunt shirt. Good times...anyway, I get to sleep inside for a while, I kind of like that and I get my pills wrapped in cheese so that is nice. Have a good week!
Your favorite dog,
Molly
